On 19th June, the NHS will be launching National Blood Week and celebrating how new and existing donors make a difference to the lives of those in need. These donors give up their time to help the NHS by saving people whose lives depend on blood.
You can proudly declare #ImThere to those whose lives depend on you.
Over the last year, 900,000 people came forward to help critically ill patients. The #ImThere campaign shares the stories of why people, like you and me, do something amazing by donating blood. They need your help to reach out to more people so please share your stories of how and why you are there for others by:

• Changing your profile picture on Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram to support National Blood Week and beyond. Do get your friends, colleagues, family members and loved ones to participate during this special period. Be proud to declare where you stand in helping those in dire need of blood.

• Telling the world why you are there for others by wanting to give blood. Maybe you know someone who received blood, or just want to help others. Whatever that reason – help us spread the word. Here are some example posts:

• Taking a ‘selfie’ at your next donation session – to tell everyone why you are there and to encourage them to do the same!
The NHS urgently needs more new black donors to help patients with sickle cell; a serious condition and the fastest growing genetic blood disorder in the UK. Please speak to your friends and family who have black heritage and ask them, if they can, to donate. Ask them to visit  blood.co.uk.
